Final reflection

Eissa Ahmed Ali AlHammadi - H00280533

Services and support provided by a person or a group to promote the goodness and well being of general public are termed as community services. It may be volunteering performed by a person or an organization. There are many benefits of volunteer performing community services. The summary below describes comprehensively analyzes the prospects of my volunteering experience performing community services.
In the giving essay, Volunteering of community service is explained with the help of Formula 1 race event. In this event, I write my experiences of this event as a volunteer.

Management of this event especially focused on community services to promote the word. Local volunteers were selected to perform community services which include guiding people, resolving their problems, addressing their issues and satisfying their concerns and answering their questions regarding event and local norms.
To exhibit these functions, volunteers must have strong understanding of relevant skills including expectable ways communicating, disaggregating tasks from teams to individuals and appropriate behavior within team and with participants.
To address this issue management organized the tasks around teams and select a team leader for every to manage teams well. Management also trained all the volunteers with lectures and visuals to promote effective functioning of community services. Volunteers are provided training on almost daily basis in which they learn how to be creative, exhibit problem solving skill and successful in addressing people’s problems.
To improve the volunteers’ motivation management introduced contests and games for participants and volunteers and different gifts were awarded to the winners. Though I and my team didn't win any gift or reward but we enjoy it as a fun to participate in those games and contests.
Every day we entered into different areas covered by the event. Every stand was different than the other and we was enjoying in covering such a diverse event. Dancing, games, concerts and other activities were a prime part of that event.
The other day, our team leader could not attend the event and replaced by another member of the team.  We have no problems with the change of leaders because of understanding between the new leader and the team.
Volunteering refers to provide support or service to people without expecting anything tangible from them in return for such services. It is not only advantageous for people to whom support or services are provided, but it is also beneficial for volunteers as well. It has many positive benefits including skill development, improvement in communication skills and enjoyment in personality.

Finally this event was a great learning experience. I was involved in different activities and tasks throughout that event. The first thing I learned by answering all the questions of the participants that how to deal, talk, behave and resolve the queries of people from different backgrounds. They have different problems and concerns, and dealing with them all adds a lot to my personal skills. My problem solving skills have improved by participating in this group. Other learning experiences including that I learned to utilize time and resources by seeing how our leader organize different tasks around team members by keeping in view the motivational aspect of the team members as well.
Participating in similar events as a volunteer would definitely enhance my knowledge. It would provide my learning experience of working in different fields and also augment the social aspect of my life by participate the events.

Sunday, November 23rd, 2014 this morning our team leader Majed AlZaabi excuse to present the event because, his house maid was sick and he should take her to the hospital so, Saltan AlDhahri covered his place and as the procedure of every morning we register in at AlShahama tent then we went to YAS circuit. When we reach their I asked the team leader Sultan that if I can enter the main grand stand and he agree so, I went there with Ismail and Salem, we really impressed of what we saw there because it was totally different of the south grand stand it was bigger, there was more shops, there was dance show and there was some old women their making bread and Arabic coffee. I enjoy the volunteer there by guide the people; give them some information about F1, meeting VIPs and the famous like some actors like Jaber Naghmoush, Bilal Abdulla and Hind AlBoloushi. At 5pm His highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed AlMaktoum, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed AlMaktoum and Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed AlNahyan attends the event, I really feel proud because we were presented our country and the visitors thanks us of the effort that we did and some of them took a photo of us and others took a photo with us. Of course this work is an honor and I hope all young Emiratis to volunteer in any volunteer work inside the country or outside and I really impressed because there was some volunteers of the disabled, they are our friends and brothers so we shouldn't look at them like he cannot do anything we must support them and encourage them.

volunteer at F1

Saturday, November 22st, 2014 this morning we meet up at AlShahama tent and register to get the access card and the vest, then we take our breakfast their at the tent.

But this morning was different because we got a new team leader Majed AlZaabi instead of Sultan AlDhahri and he is better than Sultan; there were awards on iPad devices for the volunteers by the ticket number but I didn't win neither our team. Because it’s not allowed to drive our own car and we don’t have the parking pass we get on the bus to YAS circuit. AlZaabi start with distributing our team into two group and because two person doesn't came we were six by six, we start to work down stairs today at Oasis but there was nothing to do so, we infiltrating to the F1 teams garage “work shop” to get some information about the formula cars and to meet the drivers, we just saw the parts of the cars and we search and asked about the drivers but we didn't find them. Anyway we enjoyed a lot from the experience we lived there and we meet a Moroccan mechanical his name is Edriss he work with GP2 team at the work shop and he told us that the F1 tires is changed twice only during F1 race if it changed for the third time the team will get a plenty and they will loss points and they can change the tires during the race only in 3 second that’s the best time they reach, also the rims is used once only and they cannot use it another time for the safety. Then we came back to our section to continue our jobs same as the day before.

Friday, November 21st, 2014 we start this morning to organize the event. Firstly, we went to the assembly point at AlShahama we meet up there with our team leader Sultan AlDhahri at Takatof tent and we register to get the access card to enter YAS circuit as volunteers then they gave us a jacket that makes the visitor know and recognize I’m a volunteer by the logo of Takatof and the word volunteer. After that we to YAS by the bus to our section “south platform” of course there was a private bus for each group. When we reach our section the team leader of our group start with distributing us into two teams and each team include 7person and each person.

In the first hours I was on the platform with the public and my job was to guide them into their seats and answer some of their questions, I was there from 12pm till 3pm, but then we have got a lunch break around 30 min. then we change shift with the other group of our team. So, we went down to the oasis and our job there was to help and guide the visitors to reach the platform, the bus station and to show them their correct way where ever they want to go. The oasis is like a market and some theater shows like the standup comedy. I really enjoy to be a volunteer and to help the people there and I expect to do the same work tomorrow but with more visitors than today. I learned how to have a conversation with different people with different countries and how to control my self.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper "A Theory of Human Motivation". Maslow hierarchy has five levels which is Physiological needs, Security needs, Social needs, Esteem needs and Self-actualizing needs.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by 56 members of the UN, on Dec. 10, 1948 and now a day’s it’s more than 185 nations. The UN established a commission on human rights and charged it with the task of drafting a document spelling out the meaning of the fundamental rights and freedom proclaimed in the charter.

About volunteer for sure I have a plan, I register with TAKATOF as a volunteer and I will be in YAS circuit with formula a structured on the southern platform. We will start next month on November 2014 and it will be for five days only (2 days meeting and 3 days for the formula).

There are a lot of benefits of participating TAKATOF volunteering program like, I will meet new people, get an experience, have some fun, I will be one of the organizers, and I will help people and guided them and I will enjoy watching formula racing.
